The Giza Plateau

Breakfast, then disembark for visits:
Giza Pyramids
The only remaining of the ‘seven wonders of the ancient world’ and a
UNESCO world heritage site. The massive pyramid of Cheops, flanked by
its two smaller brethren and the stunning sphinx, all situated on the Giza
plateau.
These monuments would have probably been seen by Abraham, Joseph,
Moses, Mary & Jesus.
The Sphinx
Cut from the bedrock, it is a limestone statue of a reclining sphinx, a
mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human, facing
directly from West to East. 240 ft long from paw to tail and 62 ft from the
base to the top of the head.
Egyptian Museum (The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization)
This houses the largest Egyptian collection of antiquities in the world.
The fabulous treasures of the King ‘Tutankhamun’ are on display, dating from
1357 to 1339 B.C. including gold coffins, gold masks, and a golden throne.
Following an introduction to the museum and its various halls, time to take-in
the splendour of the exhibits.
The Bazaars
Time in the colourful Khan Khalili markets and bazaars to find the bargain of
the day and enjoy sights of a variety of oriental merchandise.
The Evening
You may not want to miss this. Optional ‘Son et Lumière’ at the Pyramids.
