Cruising the Timeless Nile

         DAY 2/Thu. 2nd September
         Visits after breakfast:
         The High Dam
            Built across the Nile in Aswan
            to prevent the annual flooding
            of the Nile during late summer,
            thus protecting farmland and
            its economically important
            cotton crop.
         The Philae Temple
            Near the expansive first Cataract of the Nile and the site of an Egyptian
            temple complex. Philae is mentioned by numerous ancient writers, including
            Strabo, Diodorus Siculus, Ptolemy, Seneca and Pliny the Elder.

         Lunch on board
         The Nubian Museum
            A showcase of the history, art and culture of Nubia. Established in 1997,
            in cooperation with UNESCO, the museum is a reminder of what was lost
            beneath Lake Nasser. Exhibits are beautifully displayed in huge halls, where
            clearly written explanations take you from 4500 BC through to the present
            day.
         The Evening
            A Nubian Cultural Show.
